Kinda based on real events. I was taking the five hour drive to my parents' house via a route never tried before. After a series of confusing turns and bad (or absent) traffic signs I suddenly found myself on a road that felt very wrong. For a scary half minute or so I even started to wonder if I was driving in the wrong direction. Luckily it turned out I wasn't. As for the original song it was the one played on radio at the moment. The idea to use it came head on. It's almost as old and demented as me. Some sort of strange synchronicity at work I guess.

I was simply driving carefree, thought I'd take a way untried
When I stepped the gas came unease, fear of that I might collide
Felt a death knell, am I in the wrong lane?
Wrong lane?
Felt a death knell, am I in the wrong lane?
Wrong lane?

Either way I quickly pondered, off this road I had to be
If this was a driving blunder, hope that none's around to see
It was a death knell, am I in the wrong lane?
Wrong lane?
T'was a death knell, am I in the wrong lane?
Wrong lane?

But I might as well now foretell, when I hit the road again
I'll be driving 'round in diapers, for fear I will make skid rows then
Just from a death knell, if I'm in the wrong lane!
Wrong lane!
From a death knell, if I'm in the wrong lane!
Wrong lane!
From a death knell, if I'm in the wrong lane!
Wrong lane!
