If you donīt know what an "Ensign Redshirt" is, then congratulations, youīre obviously not as much of a nerd as I am. Itīs a popular term for the kind of Star Trek actor who gets introduced in the first scene only to be killed off in the second, making it look like the main characters are in grave danger. This plot development twist was so commonly used in the original series that all minor actors wearing red begun to be refered to as "Ensign Redshirt". And if there was an away team mission ahead, well, letīs put it this way, noone would have sold life ensurance to an "Ensign Redshirt" at that stage.

Ten redshirted ensigns had no hope of being fine.
One went on away mission and then there were nine.

Nine redshirted ensigns knew that help would come to late.
One went on away mission and then there were eight.

Eight redshirted ensigns knew they gonna go to heaven.
One went on away mission and then there were seven.

Seven redshirted ensigns prayed that there would be a fix.
One went on away mission and then there were six.

Six redshirted ensigns counted days they were alive.
One went on away mission and then there were five.

Five redshirted ensigns couldnīt care for peace or war.
One went on away mission and then there were four.

Four redshirted ensigns knew that they were not to be.
One went on away mission and then there were three.

Three redshirted ensigns had their nightmares coming true.
One went on away mission and then there were two.

Two redshirted ensigns were too scared to have fun.
One went on away mission and then there were just one.

The final Ensign Redshirt got promoted just in time.
And luckily for both of us, that word will fit the rhyme.
